U OF T KARATE CLUB
Tournaments
UTKC members are fully encouraged to compete in tournaments. Tournaments
can be a very exciting and rewarding experience and provide a good
opportunity to test your skills and abilities. The training and preparation,
the spirit of competition, and the camaraderie of competing alongside
your UTKC teammates are all part of the tournament experience.
  
  
Through UTKC, you will have the opportunity to compete in events,
including:
1.
Karate Ontario Grand Prix Tournaments
2. Inter-University Tournament
3. Jinbukai Tournament
Competitors can choose to compete in the following categories of events:
1. Individual Kata (forms)
2. Team Kata (synchronized forms)
3. Kumite (free sparring)
At
the black belt level, regular competitors in Karate Ontario Grand
Prix Tournaments may also qualify to compete in
the Canadian National Karate Championships, and beyond that, the World
Championships.
The UTKC is recognized by
Sport
Canada through our affiliation with Karate
Ontario. Our members also have the opportunity to represent Canada
at international competitions such as the North American Cup and the
Pan American Games. Only clubs which are recognized by Sport Canada,
such as the UTKC, are eligible to compete for Canada.
