January 2005's Kagami Biraki took place at Supermarket the new nightspot in the heart of Kensington Market. MC's this year were Hiro Hasegawa and Emily Tan. A man of many talents who would have suspected that Hiro was a master card magician? Hiro kept the crowd occupied with his card magic skills at one point in the evening while the brown belts prepared their skit. This year's guest speaker was Kaerynne Nakamura who enlightened us all with her story of her personal journey as a karate-ka.
