Well, that's another Summer Gasshuku complete - I hope everyone
improved their Karate, had a great time, and made some new friends
or renewed old friendships.
Congratulations to Moyo, Martin, and Tim, the top three finishers in
this year's Monday-morning 3km race. Kudos also to those particularly
tough Dan grading test candidates (Charlotte, Josephine, Jane, and
Hiro) who not only completed all eight workouts, but also completed
the four-hour grading test and participated in the run.
It's a lot of work to organize and run Gasshuku, and thanks to Joanne
and all of the meal captains for their work. Special mention to those
meal captains who had never before attended Gasshuku, but
volunteered nonetheless. Thanks also to Chris and Gary for their
Saturday emergency bathroom cleanup, and to Ingrid for her tireless
work cleaning and pitching in whenever and wherever necessary.
And thanks to Sho, who was too busy with work commitments to be
able to train with us, but volunteered nonetheless to be a meal
captain, drive up, and cook us dinner.
And finally, thanks to Tominaga Sensei for all of his instruction, at
camp and throughout the year.
Next year's Summer Gasshuku (July 30-August 1, 2005) will mark
Tominaga Sensei's 35th year instructing at the University of Toronto
Karate Club. Keep that weekend open, and hope to see everyone there.
Train hard.
